Our Story

Sail on a piece of history down the Bridgewater Canal.

Built in 1795 by Francis Egerton, the 3rd Duke of Bridgwater to carry coal from his mines in Worlsey to Manchester. The ‘Dukes Cut’ is the first canal in Britain to be built without following an existing waterway, marking the beginning of the golden canal era.

The Bridgewater Canal has a distinctive orange tinge due to the natural iron from the mines.

 Cruise to Lymm

Through the picturesque Cheshire countryside passing the villages of Daresbury, Moore & Walton.  Stop off at the historic Walton Hall & Gardens or continue onward to Stockton Heath, Grappenhall & Lymm.

Explore historic Runcorn

A short sail from our base is the town of Runcorn, once a gateway to the tidal river Mersey estuary & a key route for barges to Liverpool.  While the locks are long closed there is still plenty to see in the area.  Visit the mediaval ruins of Norton Priory, old town or minature railway.  Perfect for our 3 hour evening cruises.

Tunnel tours & the Anderton Boat Lift

Skippered tours through the tunnels and on to the Anderton Boat Lift can be organised by special arrangement.  Pricing available on request.
